Jashne Buzurg on 17 Jan 2009:

SAMAA celebrated Jashne Buzurg on 17 Jan 2009 at Auburn Town Hall. Nearly 300 people attended the festivities including large number of  elderly and seniors, members, volunteers, government officials and guests and large number of families of South Asian origin. The speakers included Dr Mohamoud Sheikh of University of New South Wales, Representatives from TACS ( Trans-cultural aged care service) and officials of SAMAA.  After the dinner, the guests were entertained by songs and ghazals by local artists. SAMAA LAUNCH on 14 Nov 2007:

SAMAA was launched in Sydney on 14 Nov 2007. It is an incorporated body which aim is to provide care to the elderly of South Asian Muslim Community.The inaugral function was attended by over 200 people who were briefed about SAMAA's objectives.


 

 

 

-----------------URDU POETRY ----------------------

An Evening of Urdu Poetry

Saturday 2 May 5 PM 

Location: Newington Community Centre 

This program will bring together our elderly and entertain them with Urdu poetry by poets living in Sydney few of whom are now known internationally for their poetry collections. A health expert will also deliver a talk on health issues of elderly. 

Contribution: $15 per person, $10 for pensioners
