ABOUT US

SAMAA was launched in Sydney on 14th Nov 2007. We are a non-profitable incorporated association which aims to provide care to the elderly of South Asian Muslim Community.

SAMAA’s main objectives are:

1) Through a team of volunteers, SAMAA provides services such as

       a)  Arranging get togethers and picnics at regular interval.

b)  Helping the elderly in day to day needs such as providing transport to attend Friday prayers, doctors, shops, social events and cook food for them.

2) Through government agencies such as the NSW Trans-cultural Aged Care Service (TACS) negotiate with aged care service providers to arrange for religious and cultural specific needs for our elderly and to place them in facilities providing such care.

3) In the long run SAMAA aims to establish its own aged care facilities such as a nursing home and a retirement village. These will be built by raising funds through public appeals and government grants. Our services will cater for cultural and religious specific needs of our elderly.

4) We also extend our services to the younger people or families who may need assistance due to a disability or domestic violence.

We request all Muslim elderly of Subcontinent origin to fill out the registration form and inform us about their specific needs.

We need volunteers in various areas of Sydney to provide the services mentioned above.  We request all brothers/sisters who can spare some time to offer their services and register themselves as volunteers.

SAMAA has now introduced the system of paid volunteers where volunteers can be paid for the work they do or for the personal expenses they incur in serving the elderly.

To meet its objectives, SAMAA has set up two funds:

i)   Benevolent Service Fund: This will fund the voluntary services offered by SAMAA to its elderly.

ii)  Elderly Home Fund: This fund will be utilized to build our own aged care facilities.
